The principal of Killyleagh Built-in Main Faculty stated the collapse was attributable to a leaking pipe

Kids at a County Down main college have prevented harm after a ceiling collapsed in a classroom.

The incident occurred at about 11:00 BST whereas pupils had been being taught at Killyleagh Built-in Faculty.

No-one was injured, however the collapse reportedly left a big gap within the ceiling.

A father of one of many pupils within the classroom stated his daughter was “missed by a matter of inches”.

“My daughter was at her desk when the ceiling fell,” stated William Walker, father of eight-year-old Zoe.

“It if had of been six or seven inches over, it might have executed her a variety of harm.”

“All of them sit 4 to a desk within the class. An enormous piece of the ceiling fell onto the desk,” stated Mr Walker.

“They had been doing their writing and it simply got here down… She might have been in hospital, or worse.”

The varsity’s principal stated the incident occurred due to damp from a leaking pipe.

“The youngsters had been moved to a spare classroom and regular enterprise resumed,” stated Jason Milligan.

“The training board reacted shortly and the ceiling has now been repaired.”
