A file cowl that includes a 1969 picture of Tina Turner has overwhelmed David Bowie’s ultimate launch Blackstar to a prize for the 12 months’s greatest album art work.

The Final Shadow Puppets’ Every little thing You have Come to Anticipate was chosen from 50 entrants within the annual awards.

Mark Pritchard’s photograph landscapes for his Underneath the Solar file got here third, in accordance with a public vote.

Now in its 11th 12 months, the prize is organised by Artwork Vinyl, an organization that promotes file covers as artwork.

The announcement follows news that vinyl gross sales topped three million final 12 months – the best UK complete in 25 years.

Illustrator Matthew Cooper used a photograph of Turner taken by Vogue’s Jack Robinson to embellish the quilt for the Final Shadow Puppets’ second album.

“The thought was to maneuver the art work on from the ’60s really feel of the primary Final Shadow Puppets album art work, so right here is Tina on the very cusp of the 1970s,” he defined.

The unique black-and-white picture was given a gold tint “to create an identifiable color scheme and a hotter, extra up to date really feel.”
