The incident has been blamed on a misunderstanding between completely different units of police

5 cops in Ukraine have been killed by pleasant fireplace throughout a botched operation to arrest robbers, an inside ministry official has mentioned.

The in a single day shoot-out between two units of police started when either side believed the opposite to be criminals.

It occurred close to Kiev and has been described as a “heartbreaking tragedy”.

The gunfight started when a burglar alarm went off by probability in the home subsequent door to at least one being staked out by two undercover policemen.

A separate unit then arrived to analyze the alarm, within the small city of Knyazhychi, and detained the pair, mistaking them for robbers.

However the back-up unit for the 2 males apparently feared that they had been confronted by the thieves and tried to rescue them.

Inside ministry adviser Anton Herashchenko mentioned these suspected of being the true burglars – who had been close by – heard the gun battle and fled in two autos.

The three had been arrested quickly afterwards with firearms within the capital, Kiev, the Kyiv Post reported, and it’s anticipated they are going to be charged with quite a few legal offences.

The previous chief of nationwide police Khatia Dekanoidze described the taking pictures as a “heartbreaking tragedy”, the paper reported.
